Earthpaste was created due to being frustrated trying to find toothpaste pure enough for the whole family to use. Some brands skipped sodium lauryl sulphate, but not titanium dioxide. Others were fluoride-free but still had glycerin. We wanted toothpaste so pure each ingredient would help support good health, and after a lot of careful research, we made Earthpaste.
WHAT DO THE INGREDIENTS DO?
Purified Water: Used to hydrate the clay.
• Food Grade Redmond Clay®: A natural polisher and cleanser that is also mineral rich and alkaline. • Xylitol: Sweetener and also recommended by many for tooth health.
• Tea Tree Oil: Anti-bacterial properties, promotes gum health, and bad breath fighter.
• Other Essential Oils: Added for flavor and other health benefits. The current flavors of Earthpaste are Wintergreen, Peppermint, Cinnamon, and Lemon Twist.
• Menthol: Only contained in the wintergreen and peppermint flavors. Leaves your mouth feeling fresh and clean.
• Redmond Real Salt®: Enhances flavor and offers anti-bacterial properties associated with sea salt.
What is the source of the xylitol?
We only source non-GMO certified xylitol that is made from birch and/or corn cobs.
What is the source of essential oil?
The wintergreen and cinnamon essential oils come from Madagascar and Shri Lanka. The peppermint essential oil comes from Washington. While not certified organic, they are considered wild-crafted.
Isn’t tea tree oil dangerous?
Like a lot of things these days, there is some debate. We wrote an explanation to help people understand why we use tea tree oil.
What is the source of menthol in the wintergreen and peppermint?
A lot of companies use synthetic menthol. Not Redmond! Read more information about our menthol.
Does Earthpaste feel different in the mouth?
Yes. Because Earthpaste contains no foaming agents, it will feel thin in your mouth compared to foaming toothpastes. However, you will soon realize the foam is unnecessary.
What is the pH of Earthpaste?
On initial tests the pH has been between 9.6 – 9.7.
Does it really work?
Yes, very well. (But you knew we’d say that!)
Will it whiten my teeth?
We don’t make any specific dental claims in regard to anti-cavity or whitening. The feedback from customers and oral health professionals has been very positive.
Should I use Earthpaste for my pets?
When people fall for Earthpaste, they get excited about switching every tube of toothpaste in their house—sometimes even for their pets. Most pets will do great with Earthpaste, but dogs and ferrets cannot safely digest xylitol, an ingredient in most varieties of Earthpaste. (Here’s a veterinarian’s explanation.) Spearmint Earthpaste doesn’t contain xylitol, so if your dog likes a minty kick, they can enjoy Earthpaste and you can enjoy minty-fresh dog breath.
Can I use Earthpaste with Homeopathy?
There are several medical studies that show you can take mint, coffee, eucalyptus, camphor and other essential oils as long as you take them 10 – 15 minutes after you take homeopathic remedies. There are also homeopathic practitioners that counsel against using mint at all when using homeopathy.
We aren’t going to make any claims because we aren’t a medical association so you should follow the your medical practitioner’s counsel.
WHY IS THERE A WARNING LABEL ON THIS PRODUCT?
""Earthpaste is so clean and natural and has a great aftertaste. So happy to have finally found a great natural toothpaste.”
OH MY! I cannot stay away from my toothbrush and cannot decide which flavor I prefer, so all of them occupy the counter! I feel like I have just left the dentist!
